The Community of Bloggers And Money In Blogs

The word “blog” is short for web log. It is like a digital journal that is shared within the blogging community. It allows bloggers to post information and commentaries on topics that interest them. Blogs are maintained either by a single person or a group of people who regularly write articles on events happening around them, opinions about a particular subject matter, or post graphics, audio, video recordings and make money in blogs. These sites are arranged chronologically. “web log” can also function as a verb such as “I blogged about this yesterday.”

Some bloggers write commentaries, air their political or scientific views and provide breaking news on current topics of interest. Other blogs are more personal and are similar to online journals. The usual blog may contain a combination of texts, graphics and provide links to other source websites . The versatility of a web log helps in one’s goal to make money blogging. Blog readers have the privilege of leaving their own comments for the writer to read. Comments are an important part of blogs. Just like the three founding blocks of elementary education, there are three Rs behind a successful blog viz. Research, wRiting and Readability. Researching for a weblog may seem a far-fetched notion, but unless your blog is simply about your experiences and is more a personal diary, there is some amount of research behind it. This need not be a subject-oriented research that helps you fortify your content with solid references. It can also be research on what kind of subjects would be most widely read. For a business blog, this is pretty much bread and butter. For professionals making a foray into the blogosphere, it might be tempting to fire away article after article on your special subject, but that will not guarantee takers for your blog.

A general interest blog which does not claim to focus on a particular subject stands greater chances of appealing to one or another section of readers, but that doesn’t mean restricting your writing to simply fun stuff. Just like research articles in journals and other print media, well-researched, well-written content on a particular subject will find readership, but this requires a careful definition of both ‘well-researched’ and ‘well-written’. Returning to the example of the professional blazing his trail into the world of blogs, research may not be a problem, but writing most certainly can be one, as it is to the best of scholars. There is often a subtle gap between the possession and exposition of knowledge, and this defines the thin line between an eminently readable blog and an obscurely esoteric one.

Also crippling to the issue of readability – especially with a business blog, is the language and style of writing. One of the peculiar features of modern scholarship is the clinging by each profession and specialty to its own jargon. In an open medium such as a blog which embraces an open readership, excessive terminology can drive away more lay readers. Again, it is important to keep in mind the target of the blog. If indeed the blog’s purpose is to clarify the meaning and use of jargon, or to publish some content relevant only to a certain group, then the use of specific words is justified. This would also constitute research.
